Hi! We are Caleigh & Bryan

We are a husband and wife of 5 years who met in somewhat of a whirlwind romance mashed with a health crisis and a number of lessons in perseverance and finding joy in what truly matters in life. After battling the need for a double lung transplant, cross-country moves, constant life shifts, and a number of other things, Caleigh is health, we are both healthy, taking on the world and not letting anything hold us back

Our plan was to travel around the world. Caleigh dreams of France. I dream of New Zealand. We both dream of Bali, South Africa, Iceland, etc….but  Covid happened.

With Caleigh’s immunosuppression, the risks are high. We need to be close to her medical team. We need to be extremely cautious at all times…so on and so forth.

SO, we moved to a little beach cottage in San Clemente, CA to quarantine. September 2020 rolls around and California has what was then the biggest year of wildfires in history. Adding to our covid concerns, Caleigh’s transplanted lungs are susceptible to infection from the smoke so the wildfires are no bueno for her, and let’s be honest, they are no good for me either!

In a rush to escape the smoke, we rented a van from the aptly named escape caravan and set out to Arizona and Utah. While we had seen the van-life craze on social media, I’m not sure we ever thought it was for us. This trip changed everything. We fell in love with the freedom, the proximity to nature, and the beauty of it all. This set into motion the journey we are on today.

After months of research and planning, in January 2021, we bought a MB Sprinter, spent the next few months designing what we wanted it to look like (link to van design guide to come), sold everything and didn’t re-up our lease in May. We then road-tripped across the country to my parent’s home in Ohio to spend some much-needed time with them as my dad and I retrofitted the van. We concluded the build on September 25th and have been on the road ever since.

While this is a wild adventure without any true plan set in stone, we have goals to keep us grounded and focused on the journey ahead:

– Visit all major national parks

– Visit all 50 states together (Hawaii will be a challenge but we will figure it out)

– Build a business along the way to sustain us long term

– Meet new friends from all walks of life

– Find Health in our diet, fitness, and minds.

– Make it better. Live sustainably and responsibly.

– Reconnect – with friends, nature, and one another

Thank you for joining us on our incredible journey. We will do our best to share good, raw content so you can join us along the way. While there is absolutely no obligation to support…if you’re interested in helping keep this journey going, here is a link to a few ways you can help!
